Is there a way for me to tone my arms without adding bulk, with no exercise equipment?

February 282010

My arms aren’t really fat but they’re just kind of lumpy looking and even when I flex they’re still lumpy. Is there anything I can do at home with no exercise equipment that will tone them up without adding bulk? I’m away for the summer and don’t have access to my gym and I left my weights at home.

Yes, there is.

Just strength train your arms by using weights (or dumbbells). if you don’t have the weights (or dumbbells), just improvise a bit – use thick books or water bottles or simply your body weight.

I’ve done this arm workout and it really helps me to firm, sculpt and build beautiful lean muscle mass into my arms, giving them sleeker forms and shapes. I just workout the arms 3-4 times per week for 10 mins per session.

I can tell you; I see the difference. My arms firm up and become less flabby and lumpy.

Here’s my arm workout: http://www.perfect-body-toning.com/arm-workouts.html

Hey! throw in 30 mins of cardio exercise (running, walking, swimming, biking…..) to burn off the excess fat from your entire body (includes fat in your arms too….), to lose the fat and weight.

You’ll see more beautiful arms.

What is an effective bicep workout that can be done at home without gym equipment?

February 282010

Same question applies to forearms and back, Thanks.

Biceps: bicep curl and hammer curl. Just fashion some weights out of things around your house.

Forearms: wrist curl and reverse curl. Again, find some weights.

Back: pull-ups (find a bar), and bench rows. Again find some weights.

What CHEAP fitness equipment do you recommend?

February 282010

I asked this question 2 days ago and got "answers" that didn’t truly answer my question.

I am looking to convert our garage into a "home gym". I have some home fitness tools like resistance bands, fitness dvds(my husband has a tv out there to watch football) and yoga mat. What inexpensive gear/tools should I add?

I have a bike I ride around to do my errands so please don’t tell me to get a stationary bike or a treadmill. I’d like real recommendations that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. A home gym is to save us money verses a health club membership.

My husband has a weight bench and free weights out there. I do know how to use them. As far as my goals- I’m looking to mix things up from my cycling/power walking routine.

I would start by looking on a site like craigslist.com. I think a lot of people buy equipment with a goal in mind and then give up so you could probably get some used equipment in really good shape at a cheap price.

As far as what you need to buy….. i guess it depends on your fitness goals. Do you want to bulk up, tone, strenghten? But you probably want a good mix of some cardio and weights.

Fitness machines: Am I imagining this?

February 282010

Or are we now being told many of the exercises we do will crack are backs, rip our ligaments, and put us into traction in 5 years, and that some of the machines will make us into putty. Not that I want to refute these claims with mere cynicism, but if these second thoughts about the effectiveness of a lat pull, or whatever, are being made, how many options for safe exercise are there?

PS. I admit to using hyperbole.

Sorry but I do not believe that.

I use to instruct on machines and have used them for years.
They are designed to help you get the maximum benefit with the least strain on your other muscles, ligaments, and back.

With the proper settings at each machine you can get the most benefit, isolation of a specific muscle group with proper form. As with anything if you are not setup correctly you can hurt yourself.

Just make sure you have good settings and if you feel strain where you should not, stop and readjust.

You should be just fine on Hyperbole.

Keep working out.

What work out video/show or fitness equipment would you recommend?

February 282010

We’re getting ready to attend a wedding in April and we’re trying to slim down a bit, especially around the waist/abs. We’ve got two little boys, so going to the gym is out right now. Is there anything you can recommend that isn’t too time consuming and produces results?

I highly recommend TURBO JAM!!! It’s will never get boring and it will leave you feeling awesome. Plus it doesn’t hurt that it tones your body also.

Home gym will never get you in shape. I work out so much harder at my gym because between sets I’ll glance over and some young bombshell is jogging on the treadmill. Or once in a while theres a muscle girl or an older guy lifting and I look at their lifts and I’m like dang I need to up my game. The biggest part of getting over going to the gym is realizing there will always be people bigger and in better shape than you, and people more out of shape than you there. So you also can’t gauge your body by the strongest or best looking person. You have to set realistic goals for yourself.
