What are the pros & cons of silent magnetic resistance, versus other resistance methods on exercise machines?

March 102010

Are there any, or is magnetic resistance just as good? What others forms of resistance are used for fitness machines, which are NOT manual. Thanks.

www.google.com has a great deal of information that you could use to find your answers , while yahoo answer is more likely to be better for people’s opinions.. thanks.

Vibration Fitness Machines?

March 82010

A friend of mine has started using a Power Plate and has been ranting and raving about the incredible results. And it’s true, she has used it 5 times and I have felt the difference in her biceps. Has anybody used one long-term and can you vouch for their effectiveness especially re. abs and bum?

how much did she dish out for it, i just bought one for about $250 (USD) and thats including shipping and the extended warranty. i haven’t gotten it yet though so i cant answer your question

Which home fitness machine gives the best overall workout?

March 82010

I’ve realised I don’t have room for a treadmill which was my first choice, so I’m looking for something a bit more compact like a cross trainer or an exercise bike. Would like to increase aerobic fitness mainly, but also tone up and become leaner and fitter. I’m not overweight (5′4" and weigh 49kg) and fairly active (fast walk about 4-5 miles a day). What do you think would be best?

the best thing is a skipping rope,

what is the best fitness machine to lose weight?

March 62010

i want to hire a machine for a while and the general options from what i can see are ellipticals, treadmills, exercise bikes and rowing machines. Please tell me if you have had experience with these machines and what is best for losing generalized weight as well as perhaps slimming thighs (but not those day time TV advertisement machines.)
thanks a lot

Which Is better – Fitness Machines

March 22010

Elliptical Trainer
Treadmill
Stepper
Boflex-Trainer step thing

How did one of these impact you and reaching your fitness goals along with your diet
which one really works for you
thank you somegirl. Planning on buying one and i think i’ll go with the Elliptical Trainer, I forgot about that, the fact ho wmuch wear running takes on your knees and joints and this I think would be a good investment rather than a gym membership for 2 or 3 years

Elliptical is the safest. The stepper might give you knee problems over time. Bow flex tread climber might give you knee injuries to.

Fitness machines: Am I imagining this?

February 282010

Or are we now being told many of the exercises we do will crack are backs, rip our ligaments, and put us into traction in 5 years, and that some of the machines will make us into putty. Not that I want to refute these claims with mere cynicism, but if these second thoughts about the effectiveness of a lat pull, or whatever, are being made, how many options for safe exercise are there?

PS. I admit to using hyperbole.

Sorry but I do not believe that.

I use to instruct on machines and have used them for years.
They are designed to help you get the maximum benefit with the least strain on your other muscles, ligaments, and back.

With the proper settings at each machine you can get the most benefit, isolation of a specific muscle group with proper form. As with anything if you are not setup correctly you can hurt yourself.

Just make sure you have good settings and if you feel strain where you should not, stop and readjust.

You should be just fine on Hyperbole.

Keep working out.
